BIOS
The word BIOS stands for Basic Input/output system. The BIOS communicates between the computer and devices. Usually, the ROM holds the BIOS data. IBM created the first BIOS to act as translator to run the similar operating system on different hardware platforms. The BIOS prevented programs from fighting over hardware. BIOS are capable of run on different hardware platforms. A standard reference point for many different types of hardware is created by BIOS. When a piece of hardware is needed by the operating system, it would ask the BIOS, rather than just taking control of the hardware.
